Panoramic views and Roman roads

This itinerary follows the route of a Roman road through the woods. There will be a long stretch of walking on original stone slabs still in place after more than 2000 years. We will eventually reach a panoramic summit which was the site of a fortress in the Middle Ages and then head down towards the valley, passing a splendid 16^th century church. From there we’ll walk alongside small streams among rolling hills and old mills.

The itinerary is, for the most part, on comfortable country roads, either asphalt or dirt tracks, with almost no traffic; the uphill and downhill paths, on the other hand, are generally uneven with some paved sections. Some areas can be muddy in the case of recent rain and there are sections that are exposed to winds. There is only one refreshment point along the way.
