Torgiano and Deruta, heartlands of Wine and Maiolica Ceramics

The cycling tour starts from Torre Baglioni (tower), a 13^th-century construction just outside the historic centre of Torgiano and continues towards Deruta through lovely rural landscape that’s among the most characteristic in Umbria. Once in Deruta, the city of maiolica ceramics/pottery, on request it will be possible to make a small detour on the itinerary to explore the historic centre with its typical craft shops. We will then continue along the Tiber river, flanked by farms and cultivated fields and follow a pleasant stretch of dirt track that will make the ride even more picturesque. Once back near Torgiano, a short climb leads to the historic centre of the village where you’ll get a view of the vast expanses of vineyards that have made this town famous, another typical picture-postcard landscape with the profile of Perugia and Monte Subasio peeking out just a bit further away.
