The ring of the ‘Fosso dell’Anna’ creek

Nature and wild animals on route through places that civilisation has left behind

Our trek starts in Valtopina, a small town just behind Mount Subasio, on the Apennine slope that connects Umbria with the border between Marche and Emilia Romagna. This circular route or ‘ring’ takes us over the lush green hills that embrace Fosso dell’Anna, which is the bed of a stream (creek) that is only dry in the summer months.

This trek spread out on an almost fairy-tale landscape, crossing areas that appear to have been forgotten over the centuries, and where the only sign of life is the vegetation that inhabits them. Our guide will lead you along this route, passing through tiny hamlets and authentic Apennine villages, where time seems to have stood still. The few signs of civilisation are so well immersed in the natural environment that it’s not rare to see wild animals along the way. Prepare your backpack and your mindset for the sights, sounds and feelings that will accompany you along this trek.

Recommended clothing

For this activity we recommend comfortable clothing that does not restrict your freedom of movement.
Bring a windcheater/anorak with you, even if the activity takes place in the summer months.
We recommend you wear trekking footwear.

We also recommend you bring:
– A comfortable backpack suitable for cycling/walking
– A warm sweater, such as a technical sports shir, for sudden drops in temperature
– A change of clothes (especially socks) in case of sudden rain
– Hat with a sun visor
– Warm hat
– Gloves
– Sunscreen.
