The ring of the ‘Boschi di Meana’ woods

This route starts in Allerona, a small picturesque village in the province of Terni. At the beginning, the route follows a country road on cultivated land and then on semi-wooded terrain. Immediately after, however, you’ll enter a vast protected wooded area called Selva di Meana, walking along dirt roads and past long-abandoned farms. After a couple of kilometres you’ll reach the famous Villa Cahen, standing 630 metres above sea level. This art nouveau villa was built by Anversa Edouard Cahen, a marquis who was given the title by King Vittorio Emanuele II for wartime exploits during the Unification of Italy. Cahen bought this farm and had the magnificent villa built within it. Today you have the chance to see it thanks to this path that runs alongside it.

Our guide will continue to accompany you through the woods to the villages of Meana, and then take the return path, once again through woods and past old farms.

Recommended clothing

For this activity we recommend comfortable clothing that does not restrict your freedom of movement.
Bring a windcheater/anorak with you, even if the activity takes place in the summer months.
We recommend you wear trekking footwear.

We also recommend you bring:
– A comfortable backpack suitable for cycling/walking
– A warm sweater, such as a technical sports shir, for sudden drops in temperature
– A change of clothes (especially socks) in case of sudden rain
– Hat with a sun visor
– Warm hat
– Gloves
– Sunscreen.
