From Orvieto to Todi and around lake Corbara

This is a tour through the hills around Lake Corbara and the beautiful art cities of Todi and Orvieto, taking in the inspiring natural settings and breath-taking landscapes that are typical of these magnificent areas. However, this route is only suitable for experienced and highly-trained cyclists given the 90 km length and the 2000 m increase in altitude. Departure is from the church of Ciconia, at the foot of Orvieto, and, almost immediately, the road will begin to rise towards Colonnetta di Prodo. Once we have tackled the 8-km climb, we’ll get a stunning view of Lake Corbara and Orvieto then continue downhill for another 4 km followed by another uphill stretch. We will pass the typical old village of Prodo, immersed in the silence of unspoilt nature, and then reach the top of the pass at an altitude of around 600 metres. Here will begin the descent towards the Tiber valley and soon we will find ourselves at the foot of Todi, where we’ll begin cycling uphill again towards the town but turning off before the historic centre to head towards Lake Corbara (for anyone who wants to enjoy an even more amazing view, we recommend you cycle on for another km). We will reach the charming village of Civitella del Lago after having faced a couple of challenging climbs, not so much for the gradient as for the length, and here we will stop to admire the magnificent panorama over the lake and to see its attractions. We will then set off again in the direction of Orvieto cycling down the slopes of the basin and after passing the dam we’ll pedal towards Corbara, a town that lends its name to the lake, and from there, in just over 10 km, we will return to our starting point near Orvieto. Recommended clothing

For this activity we recommend comfortable clothing that does not restrict your freedom of movement.
Bring a windcheater/anorak with you, even if the activity takes place in the summer months.
We recommend wearing the right footwear for the type of bike you are going to use.
We strongly recommend the use of a crash helmet suitable for biking.

A warm sweater, such as a technical sports shir, for sudden drops in temperature

Mechanical assistance for repairs in case of punctures, problems with brakes or other malfunctions that can be dealt with on the spot.
In most cases a car will be on hand to provide any complex assistance or to keep drinks and food chilled.

We will provide you with the bike that’s best suited to the type of route, taking your preferences into consideration, including helmets, pedaling accessories and spare parts for ordinary repairs.
