Enduro – The alternative Perugia Vecchia route

This route follows a major part of the ‘Perugia Vecchia’ (Old Perugia) route but extending it to 25 km with a total altitude increase of 900 metres; we consider it perfect even for ‘old-school’ enduro riders as it lends itself well to spending entire days in the saddle without the urge to keep climbing back up. The stretch is suitable for anyone with average fitness and experience and for those who want to calmly enjoy the area’s beautiful landscape at the foot of Perugia. On tackling the first uphill stretch on the first hill, you’ll be able to enjoy the landscape of Bettona, one of Umbria’s most characteristic villages, while once at the top you go down through the woods, towards the areas of Pontenuovo and Torgiano overlooking the Tiber valley and Perugia. The dense paths of all levels – which are typical of this circuit – provide exciting opportunities to all riders, from the most expert to the newbie. Our staff will accompany you on this route, which is one of the most popular for enduro bikers in the area.

Recommended clothing

For this activity we recommend comfortable clothing that does not restrict your freedom of movement.
We recommend wearing the right footwear for the type of bike you are going to use.
We strongly recommend the use of a crash helmet suitable for biking.

We also recommend you bring:

A comfortable backpack suitable for cycling/walking
A warm sweater, such as a technical sports shir, for sudden drops in temperature
A change of clothes (especially socks) in case of sudden rain
Hat with a sun visor
Warm hat
Gloves
Sunscreen.

Bicycles and related accessories are not included in this itinerary.

If you wish, you can choose bike hire from amongst our additional options. We will provide you with the bike that’s best suited to the type of route, taking your preferences into consideration, including helmets, pedaling accessories and spare parts for ordinary repairs. We have various types of bikes available, including e-bikes.

The activity will last about 3,5 hours, including small stops. However, the duration may vary depending on the pace of the group and the need to take fewer or more breaks.

Requirements

This is a recommended activity for those in good physical shape and with a good level of training.
You can participate in this sport even if you have never tried Enduro on a MTB, but we suggest you consult with us to check whether this could be a suitable experience for you.

This activity lasts half a day, so lunch is not provided. In your itinerary you can still select the lunch option, above your timeline. We will be able to recommend one of the best places to eat when you return.
