The mystical and secret side of Monteluco
With this trek we take you on an exploration of the secrets of the stretch of the Apennines that goes between Spoleto to Monteluco. You will be enchanted not only by the landscapes you’ll glimpse from a thousand different perspectives, but also by the small spiritual sites that you will encounter along the way and that our expert guide will be able to explain.
We will set off from Spoleto and immediately enter the area referred to as Condotti, a small stretch just outside the city that will give us spectacular views of the Rocca (fortification) and Ponte delle Torri (bridge). We will then go uphill along the road called ‘La Corta’ and cross the magnificent Monteluco holm-oak grove. We will venture into this dense vegetation and see several period villas built on the remains of former ancient hermitages. We will be able to visit one of these, called Eremo delle Grazie and then press on and visit the former Monastero di Sant’Antonio Abate. We will see the outside of the church of San Giuliano (12th century) and then arrive in Monteluco. After a short break we will be ready to set off again, but not without first seeing the Franciscan monastery, which is said to have been built by St Francis himself.
Don’t miss this fascinating tour that you will be able to experience to the full thanks to our guide, totally immersing yourself in body and spirit.
