The ring of the village of Giano

A route up through the Martani mountains, from the picturesque village of Giano with unrivalled panoramic views across the region

Behind Giano dell’Umbria, a magnificent village nestled on the slopes of the Martani mountains, you can lose yourself in a spectacular natural environment, where vast vineyards and olive groves give way to an incredible variety of lush Apennine vegetation.

This is the setting that will await us as we climb the path up into the monti Martani until we reach the highest peaks. These are not massive altitudes, but we would advise you to prepare yourself for lower temperatures even in summer, because once you reach the top there’s no shelter and you’ll be exposed to any air currents. Don’t expect anything extreme, however, and the altitude will certainly not compromise the fantastic experience and the incredible views you’ll get over the entire Umbria valley. You will also see typical old villages along the ridges of the opposite mountains, such as Trevi and Spello.

Recommended clothing

For this activity we recommend comfortable clothing that does not restrict your freedom of movement.
Bring a windcheater/anorak with you, even if the activity takes place in the summer months.
We recommend you wear trekking footwear.

We also recommend you bring:
– A comfortable backpack suitable for cycling/walking
– A warm sweater, such as a technical sports shir, for sudden drops in temperature
– A change of clothes (especially socks) in case of sudden rain
– Hat with a sun visor
– Warm hat
– Gloves
– Sunscreen.
