Sacred sites between Bevagna and Cannara

Cycling along ancient sacred roads

This excursion in search of sites that were already sacred to the ancient Umbrians before St. Francis of Assisi preached there follows a moderately-easy path for just over 28 km on a combination of asphalt roads and dirt tracks with an increase in elevation of some 350 metres. Departure and arrival points will be in Bevagna and from there we will pass places where St Francis preached to the birds – namely the shrine (‘Edicola’) of Piandarca – whilst pedalling amongst vineyards and splendid olive groves up to see the wonderful and characteristic village of Torre del Colle, before returning to our starting point in Bevagna.
