Monteluco di Spoleto – the way of the hermits

In the footsteps of the hermits on a path steeped in nature and spirituality

Monteluco is located behind Spoleto at an altitude of about 800 metres above sea level. Although it is only a small hamlet, it boasts an immense surrounding area of authentic, unspoilt nature. Our route will take us inside the sacred woods of Monteluco, a holm-oak grove that filters light with almost magical effects. We know from a variety of sources – as your guide will explain to the full – that these areas have provided shelter to several hermits over the years. In fact, along the way you will see the convent of San Francesco, which served as a hermitage on many occasions. This is a trek that surrounds you with nature and the mystical and is definitely not to be missed if you long to detach yourself from the worries of everyday life and ‘reset’ and relax your mind in the most natural way possible.

Recommended clothing

For this activity we recommend comfortable clothing that does not restrict your freedom of movement.
Bring a windcheater/anorak with you, even if the activity takes place in the summer months.
We recommend you wear trekking footwear.

We also recommend you bring:
– A comfortable backpack suitable for cycling/walking
– A warm sweater, such as a technical sports shir, for sudden drops in temperature
– A change of clothes (especially socks) in case of sudden rain
– Hat with a sun visor
– Warm hat
– Gloves
– Sunscreen.
